Children in the Library

Policy on unattended children excerpted from the UW Libraries Policy on Libraries Disruptions.

The University Libraries is committed to maintaining an environment conducive to study and research in order to fulfill its role of supporting the University’s educational and research mission. Children are welcome to visit the Library, but they must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times. In providing a safe and secure environment, the Libraries expects users to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful of library users, staff, materials, and facilities. Library users who fail to adhere to this standard may be subject to expulsion from the Libraries, University or College discipline, sanctions and/or other legal actions.

UW Bothell Policy regarding children on campus excerpted from UW Bothell Policy Manual.

Children who are taking part in organized scheduled activities or who are enrolled in specific classes are welcomed. Minor children, however, should not be brought to the institution unless closely supervised by their parent. The parent bringing the child on campus must be responsible for direct supervision of the child at all times and has ultimate and sole responsibility for the safety and care of the child.
