#IllGoWithYou is a set of established steps to support transgender, genderqueer, and other gender-nonconforming people who have to "go" when all-gender restrooms are not available. #IllGoWithYou buddies go into restrooms and other spaces with people who may be afraid or concerned about their safety. A buddy offers support, buffering, and nonviolent assistance when asked.
Certain library staff members have volunteered to serve as buddies, and will signify their participation in this program by hanging an #IllGoWithYou sign on their desk or wearing a button.
Library participation in this program is part of the Library as Place Strategic Direction to "create a welcoming, safe and accessible environment for all patrons including diverse populations and underrepresented students."
Please ask at the Information Desk or anywhere you see the logo for an #IllGoWithYou buddy.
