Reserves Student Specialist

Reserves Student Specialist - $16.84 per hour; NO OPEN POSITIONS

Under the direction of Reserves Staff and supervision of the Reserves Supervisor, processes electronic and physical course materials.


  • Assists faculty at the Reserves Public Service Desk in person and by phone
  • Answers basic questions regarding Reserve services, policies, and procedures
  • Retrieves books and media for processing; conducts searches for missing materials
  • Digitizes course reading materials to PDF format
  • Creates Course Reserve records; adds, labels, and removes course materials
  • Maintains accurate shelving of physical Reserve materials
  • Monitors and maintains inventory of Reserve supplies
  • Oversees Reserves unit in the absence of Reserves staff
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse campus community
  • Available to work assigned hours during interim
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications
  • Accurately keyboard minimum of 50 WPM
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time
  • Must be currently enrolled in at least six credits at the University of Washington or Cascadia College

Desired Qualifications:

  • One year customer service experience
  • Proficient with searching the UW Libraries Search catalog and research databases
  • Knowledge of scanners and scanning software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Details:

  • Requires continuous keyboarding, scanning, repetitive motions of hands and wrists


  • Up to 12 hours per week
  • Shifts available M-F 8am - 5pm; no weekends
