COVID-19 Updates

The Campus Library building is open and operating under the following COVID-related policies:

Face Coverings

Masks are strongly recommended the first two weeks of the quarter and are recommended indoors to help keep transmission levels low.

In alignment with the UW Face Covering Policy, masks are optional within the Campus Library building, but required for personnel and students who test postive for COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. A mask dispenser is available at the entrance to the library building.

Feeling Sick?

If you feel unwell or are sick with any potential illness, you must stay home, regardless of your vaccination status. Check the symptoms of COVID-19 and follow the UW's guidance for what to do if you feel sick. Consult the COVID-19 Flowchart to know when to report illness and close contact exposure, when to get tested, and when to stay home.

Food & Beverages

Food and beverages are allowed in most areas of the library, under the following restrictions:

  • Food is not allowed near library computers (covered drinks are ok)
  • Food is not allowed near book and media shelves
  • Food is not allowed in the Third Floor Reading Room
  • Use covered beverage containers only
  • Avoid foods and beverages that could damage materials
  • Avoid foods that could disturb others
  • Remove or dispose of all trash before leaving

Please visit the Food & Beverages Policy for additional information.

UPDATED COVID-19 Safety Measures

The Campus Library is committed to providing a welcoming and safe environment for all individuals. Safety measures we are taking include:

  • Access to a mask and hand sanitizer dispenser at the entrance to the library building
  • Access to sanitizing and cleaning supplies throughout the library building
  • Added air purifiers to all classrooms and the individual, media, and group study rooms located throughout the building
  • Increased daily cleaning of high-touch points and restrooms
  • Using MERV 15 air filters in the building's ventilation system, meeting CDC and WA Labor & Industries standards

Visit the EH&S COVID-19 Prevention and Response page for the most current information, policy updates, and campus messages.
