COVID-19 Updates

Contact-Free Pickup Service

You can now request and pick up library items. This page includes instructions for requesting items and for picking up items once you have been notified that they are ready for pickup. 

Our pickup location is found directly outside our library entrance. 

Library buildings remain closed until further notice.

Requesting Items

1. Search and Find

UW Libraries Search can be used to request materials from the UWB/CC Campus Library as well as other UW Libraries. 

You must log in via the green button before making a request for pickup.

2. Make Your Request

If an item can be requested, you will see a "request" button in the record for the item.  Click on the "Request UW item" button:

Then select "UW Bothell/CC Library" as your pickup/delivery location:

Notes:

  • You may not see a request button for every item.  See UW Libraries FAQ
  • Items with a status of "In Process" or "On Order. Expected on <date>" are not accessible to staff at this time for processing.  You may place a request, but it may be several weeks or months before your request can be fulfilled.

3. Wait

It may take a week or more to prepare your item for pickup, depending on its location, destination, and staff availability.  Thank you for your patience. 

4. Get Notice and Instructions

You will receive an email when your materials are on our hold shelf and ready for pickup.  These items can then be picked up at the Campus Library using the contact-free pickup instructions below.

Requested materials will be on the hold shelves and available for pickup for 14 days. 

To check the status of your holds at any time, log in to your Library Account.  

Pickup Hours and Location

Fall Quarter Contact-Free Pickup Hours: 

Mondays: 3pm - 6pm (no appointments required)

Tue. & Wed.: 10am - 4pm. APPOINTMENTS REQUIRED, see instructions below.


Thursdays: 12pm - 3pm (no appointments required)

Pickup Location: 

Outside of the Campus Library’s front doors.
Parking and directions

Pickup Instructions

Once you have received email notification that your requested material is ready for pickup, follow these instructions:

  • If you are arriving on Monday or Thursday, no appointment is required.
  • If you are arriving on Tuesday or Wednesday, an appointment is required. Email botcirc@uw.edu with your proposed appointment time and await confirmation.  Appointments are available between 10am and 4pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  To allow library staff  time to accommodate and confirm your appointment, please email your proposed appointment time as much in advance as possible. 

Upon arrival on campus: 

  • Find the rolling cart, designated barrier, and sign with instructions that mark the pickup location outside the library's front doors.
  • Wear a mask or other face covering.
  • Stand behind the designated barrier.
  • If there are others waiting in line, leave 6 feet of distance between yourself and others.
  • Call the library at 425-352-5340 to notify us that you have arrived.  If you do not have a phone, use the doorbell attached to the sign.  
    • Staff will only answer this phone line during Monday and Thursday pick up hours, and during times when appointments have been made.  
    • You may be placed on hold or directed to voicemail if staff are on another call.
  • Be prepared to verify your identification over the phone by providing your name, school ID number or barcode number, and a piece of contact information (e.g. phone number).  This is how staff will check materials out to you.
  • Remain behind the designated marker and wait for your items to be delivered to the cart.
  • After the staff member has delivered your items to the cart and returned to the building, you may approach the rolling cart and pick up your items.  

In order to prioritize health and safety, we ask that no face-to-face conversations be had with staff.  If you have questions after you pick up your items, please call us at 425-352-5340 or Chat with a Librarian.

In the Event of Inclement Weather

Our pickup instruction might change due to high winds, snow, or rain.

Please call the Campus Library during pickup hours (425-352-5340) if the rolling cart, sign, and barrier are not on the promenade.

Parking

There are 15 and 30 minute parking spaces on Campus Way NE.  Free parking is often available on Beardslee Boulevard, which is just a short walk from campus and the library.

Safety Measures

For your safety and ours, pickup services are contact-free. Other safety measures we are taking include: 

  • Library staff will wear face coverings, and the UW Face Covering policy requires you to do so, too.
  • Library staff will frequently wash their hands.
  • All materials processing areas will be regularly disinfected.
  • All library materials will be quarantined before being distributed to library users.
  • All library staff handling and distributing materials will have completed safe work practice training and completed daily attestations indicating they are not currently experiencing symptoms of Covid-19.
