Status and What's Open

The library building will remain closed during the Summer quarter. However, we are developing plans to re-open the library building the week of September 20. Access to UW Libraries materials is available through our contact-free pickup service and Librarians are available for help 24/7 through our Chat with a Librarian service.

Summit borrowing and Interlibrary Loan services are now available.

Building Access - CLOSED

The library building will remain closed during the Summer quarter. However, we are working on plans to re-open the library building the week of September 20.

Borrowing Library Items - AVAILABLE

Access to the UW Libraries physical collection is available through Contact-Free Pickup Service.

As of June 21, Summit Borrowing and Interlibrary Loan services are available.

Some of the collection and other services are still unavailable: UW Article Scanning ServicesScan for Canvas Service & Physical Course ReservesHome Delivery and Departmental Delivery.

UW Libraries have many online resources (eBooks, eVideos, scholarly and news articles) available that can assist with teaching and learning.  See our Online Learning Support pages For Students and For Faculty for more information.

Returning Library Items - SOME OPEN

The Campus Library book returns are open 24/7:

  • Drive up book return (accessible from Campus Way NE)
  • Library building exterior book return (accessible from the Promenade level)

The Campus Library circulates laptops to UWB students, which may be available for checkout during the building closure. For more details, or if you need to return the laptop prior to its due date, visit our laptops page.

UWB IT is also now offering a laptops and internet hotspots as a part of their equipment checkout service, and UWB students can get more information on their page at

Cascadia also offers laptops as a part of their equipment checkout service and Cascadia students can get more information on the availability of this service at

Course Reserves - ONLINE ONLY

With user safety and equitable access in mind, no physical materials (books and media) will be placed on course reserves for Fall 2020.

Because library staff are working remotely and the library building remains closed, scanning and digitization services are not available until further notice.

Due Dates & Fines - Extended When Possible

Upcoming due dates have been adjusted when possible.

You can view current due dates or renew items by logging in to Your Library Account with your UW NetID. If you have items checked out, please continue to renew them if possible.

 Overdue fines accrued between March 6, 2020 and the day the Libraries re-open will be cancelled.*

Printing services at UW Bothell are not available on campus at this time. However, there are some local, off-campus options available for printing needs:

Sno-Isle Libraries is providing in-building printing and remote printing options.

King County Public Library System is providing curbside printing pickups at specific locations.

WiFi Access

The Washington State Department of Commerce has published a list of drive-in hotspots available all across the state. 

Gifts - Donations

For the safety of library staff, donations of physical items for our collection will not be accepted at this time.
