WHERE?

Where is the Campus Library?

The Campus Library is located in the center of Campus - just south of Cascadia Community College.

Where can I find materials for students in the ESL program?

Students in Cascadia's ESL classes have access to all the materials in the Campus Library and the libraries on the UW Seattle and UW Tacoma Campuses.

Materials specifically purchased for students in Cascadia's ESL program are on the north end of the third floor of the Campus Library. If you have any trouble finding this section, please contact a library staff person on the first floor. For more information, please see the third floor map of the Library.

Where are the newspapers and magazines?

Current issues of local and national newspapers (e.g., The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Seattle Times and The Seattle P-I) are in the open study area on the first floor.

Popular magazines (e.g., Time, Newsweek and Rolling Stone) can also be found in this area.

The Library also subscribes to several newspapers and magazines that can be found on the third floor near the other materials for students in the ESL program. These include News for You, People Weekly and Readers' Digest.

Where do I get more information about the library?

If you have questions about the library, a library staff member would be happy to help you. Ask anyone behind the information desk on the first floor for help. What kinds of resources are available?

There are a variety of materials for students in the ESL program at Cascadia Community College. These include books, CDs & cassette tapes, videos and magazines. Many of these resources are available in the ESL Area on the third floor of the library. There are many types of books including, fiction, short stories, folk tales, biographies, computer manuals, books on citizenship, dictionaries, grammar books and general non-fiction.

Some of the videos, especially feature films, are available at the Campus Media Center on the second floor.

If you need help finding something, please contact a library staff person on the first floor or contact Venta at vsilins@uwb.edu or  425-352-5241.

If there is something you would like the Campus Library to purchase, please contact Venta Silins.

What may I take home?

All of the books and videos in the ESL Area can be checked out. The books can be checked out for four weeks, and the videos can be checked out for one week. Library staff members on the first floor would be happy to check out the books and videos for you. Magazines and newspapers do not circulate. Please read these in the library.

The videos that are available in the Campus Media Center can be checked out for three days. You can renew these videos online or over the phone at 425-352-5312. To renew items online, you will need a UW NetID. For information on UW NetIDs, see https://uwnetid.washington.edu/newid/ . For help creating a UW NetID, please see a library staff person. Remember: the videos from the Campus Media Center can only be checked out for three days unless you renew them! If you check out a video from the Campus Media Center, make sure you can return them on time or renew them. You will be fined for late videos.

HOW?

How do I check out books or videos?

To check out books from the Campus Library, you need your student ID. Student IDs are available at Cascadia's Open Learning Center in room CC2-060.

Anyone behind the desk on the first floor can help you check out books or videos. Just present your student ID and book(s) or video(s) you want to take home. Make sure you note how long you can have the materials, since there are different loan periods.

How do I reserve a group study room?

There are more than 25 group study rooms in the Campus Library. If you would like to work in a group, one of the group members can reserve a study room. Anyone behind the desk can help you reserve the room. You will need your student ID to reserve a group study room. Let the staff member know if you need computer or other media equipment.

How do I get extra help with a class assignment?

If you need research help for one of your class assignments, please contact Venta at vsilins@uwb.edu or  425-352-5241. She will be happy to meet with you.

When is the Campus Library open?

During the academic quarter the Campus Library is open

Monday - Thursday:    7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Friday:    8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Saturday:    9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Sunday:    Noon - 8:00 p.m.
