Research Guidelines:

  • In your reference list, include a variety of reliable, relevant resources

  • trade articles

  • general business press articles

  • popular works

  • newspaper articles or

  • newswires

 

Other sources to consider such as:

  • analyst report

  • financial report

  • company profile

  • company web page

Assignment

  • Research a company that interests you

  • Make sure it is a well established public company of significant size
    (to ensure information is readily available for your research)

  • Discuss one aspect of their business operation such as:

    • their marketing, accounting, teamwork, organizational structure, ethics, expansion strategy, etc.

  • Include an assessment of your company

  • Include your thoughts and opinions on how the company is managing the area you selected

  • Your paper should tie together your research with course concepts

  • Use at least four reliable sources in addition to your textbook

  • Only one "free web" source can be used.

  • Use APA format to cite your sources in text and in a bibliography

  • Include the following sections in your paper: 
    - Cover Page - Introduction - Company Background - Business Aspect of choice
    - Your Assessment - Conclusion - Bibliography

Due Monday April 21, 2008

Meet in Library Computer Lab (LB1-222).  Bring:

  • The area you selected to research for your company.

  • Bibliography in APA style format with a variety of resources you used so far.

  • Source type provided in parenthesis after each annotation.

  • Be prepared to

    • Discuss/ask questions about citing and using a style manual.

    • Conduct peer evaluation of team citations and types of sources.

    • Share ideas and ask questions about the research process. What worked? What did not work well?
