Windows XP Workstations
There are more than 50 desktop computer workstations in the Library for the use of Library patrons. The majority of these workstations feature Microsoft Office software and Internet access. There are also three workstations that have a legal-size flatbed scanner attached, and one that is set-up with special hardware and software for patrons with visual, auditory, or other impairments. For a list of software available on most stations, click here.
Windows XP Laptops
There are a number of laptops available for circulation from the Library. These laptops are divided into groups which are conditionally available. Here is a breakdown of the number of laptops and to whom they are available:
Laptop Availability Type |

Current Students, Staff, or Faculty of UWB, CCC, UWS, and UWT. |
Library 72-hour checkout |

In-Library laptops are only for use within the Campus Library and may not leave the building. All of the laptops have built-in wireless access and can connect using a valid UW NetID. There are several workstations and tables in the Library with yellow Ethernet cables for Internet access as well. Library 72-hour checkout and UWB Student Tech Fee laptops are typically for 72 hour checkout, but are not due on weekends or Holidays. All laptops will be due at the same time checked out on the next business day after 72 hours. (Except laptops checked out on Tuesday after 5:00 pm which are due Friday by 5:00 pm before we close.)
DO NOT put laptops in the book drop! You will still accrue fines and you may lose your laptop privileges!
We cannot reserve or hold laptops, nor can they be renewed. Patrons must wait 24 hours before checking out another 72-hour checkout laptop. You must show a current valid Student ID card, and may be asked to show additional photo ID. (No manual checkouts are allowed.) Make sure to save any files you create on your own media, disk, or network drive. All files on the laptop may be deleted upon check-in.
Fines accrue for laptops at reserve fines rates: $2.50 for the first hour and $.50 for each additional hour including hours the Campus Library is closed. Keep laptops secure and safe! You may be responsible for any and all damages to the laptop, or its loss, up to and including the replacement of the laptop. Please read the Computer Use Policy on the UWB/CCC Campus Library website for other restrictions that may apply.
Equipment will not be checked in without all of the accessories it was checked out with. (power adaptor, disk drives, cases, cables, etc.) FAILURE TO RETURN LAPTOP AFTER ACCRUAL OF MAXIMUM FINE (57 hours) MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF LAPTOP PRIVILEGES.
