Mission: The Community Media collection and website brings our community together with local media resources that represent diverse interests, ideas, and people. The Community Media website is an online continuation of the Community Newspaper collection in the UWB/CCC Campus Library. The collection includes community-based papers that represent the changing demographics of the Northwest.

The Community Media website is a portal to dozens of community newspapers representing a spectrum of local populations; local and state newspapers; independent local media; community and local television and radio stations; and resources for research.

The Community Newspaper collection is located on the first floor of the Library, and currently includes these print newspapers:

  • Colors NW - award-winning Seattle-based multicultural news
  • El Mundo - local Spanish-language newspaper; el periódico de la vida hispana de Washington
  • Northwest Asian Weekly - newspaper serving Washington's Asian community
  • Seattle Gay News - newspaper of Seattle's Gay and Lesbian community
  • Seattle Chinese News Xiyatu xin wen - local Chinese-language newspaper
  • The Skanner - regional and national news of the African-American community; published in Seattle and Portland.
  • Many more newspapers can be found in the community newspaper section of this website.
