Effective April 1, 2004, the Campus Library & Media Center has established room-use guidelines for its Seminar/Event Room, LB1-205. These guidelines are in place to ensure that this space be available for activities that address the Library’s primary mission of supporting and enhancing teaching, learning, and research at UW Bothell and Cascadia Community College.
LB1-205 is not intended to be scheduled for classes (credit or revenue-generating), staff meetings, or other weekly meetings.
The following exceptions may be applied to requests that are course-related:
One-time, course-related events (e.g., display of final projects)
Guest speakers, particularly if the event is open to both institutions
If you need a room for a small group and one is not available at your institution, the Library may be able to schedule a smaller study room for you. (Group Study Rooms are intended for student study, but on occasion may be used for faculty and staff meetings. See the Group Study Room Reservation Policies for additional information.)
General Policies:
LB1-205 is available only during regular Library hours
The room has seating capacity for 70.
There are also 10 folding tables available for use.
If your group will require media, please contact the Campus Media Center (CMC) for all equipment requests.*
Requestors/users are responsible for setting up and restoring furniture layout. For assistance with setup, take-down, or cleanup, contact Physical Plant (a charge will be associated with this service).**
Food and drink are permitted in the room. For information regarding food and beverages on campus refer to Campus Services Event Planning.
* Note: The CMC requires 10 days notice for non-curricular events and 12 hours notice for curricular/course-related events.
**Note: If take-down or cleanup is required after an event and arrangements are not previously made with Physical Plant, the library reserves the right to arrange for cleanup services and charge the requestors provided budget.
Priority
Priority Level 1: Library-sponsored programs
Priority Level 2: UWB/CCC Campus-wide events
Priority Level 3: Events restricted to an individual institution
Considerations
Type of event/session
Number of people attending the event
Number of sessions in the event/workshop
If the Library determines that an event is not appropriate for this room (e.g., too noisy); that there are not enough people attending the event to warrant its use (e.g., 15 or less); or that the number of sessions in the event/workshop would hamper its availability for other types of events, the Library has the right to decline the request for the room.
Requests & Scheduling
Requests for non-routine events are reviewed weekly at the discretion of the Library staff member responsible for booking. Generally, bookings may be made for the current quarter only.
The Library reserves the right to hold booking requests until the 3rd week of the quarter to ensure the room is available for Library-sponsored programs.
Requestors must complete the Room Reservation Request form. (Optionally, the form may be sent to you as an email attachment or you may pick it up at the Library Information Commons Desk or Library Administration).
